Large Floor Mirrors

Are you feeling frustrated about the limited size of your office or of a particular room in your home? Do you feel like the room is cramped and often appears to be even smaller than its actual dimensions? Among the multiple decorative ideas that can help to make the appearance of a room more spacious and interesting, one of the simplest options is to strategically place large mirrors, and even large floor mirrors in certain choice areas.

You may ask: How could adding even more stuff to a room possibly begin to make it appear larger? It is simple: By adding a large mirror to any room, you are inviting that region of the room to reflect any light that touches it, while simultaneously creating a reflection, which adds depth and dimension by fooling the eye, and creating the equivalent of a passageway or window where previously there was just a wall.

If you have the floor space, large floor mirrors are especially effective at creating a unique interior design, while also serving a very practical function. A large framed mirror that rests on the floor and a supporting wall can even give a room an edgy look, by creating entirely new angles, and partially reflecting the details of the ceiling.

If you do not have room for a floor mirror, large wall mirrors are nearly as effective, and in certain spaces, can offer even more impact. Choose large framed mirrors to create the illusion of windows. If you want to veer away from hard angles, or wish to soften up the look of a room while still giving the impression of space and dimension, mix things up with a large round mirror, and choose to reflect or contrast its shape with furniture that either has soft angles or sharp ones.

Even in unconventional rooms, large mirrors can offer a unique style, and an immediate impact. Consider installing a large bathroom mirror, and the one or two smaller ones on angles. This set up will not only make the bathroom bright, but will facilitate the use of mirrors to view or style the back of the head; a detail that is so frequently fussed over, due to general lack of visibility.

When decorating with mirrors, some people even go so far as to install mirrors that span entire walls. You may choose to create this effect in multiple ways by either installing one extra large mirror, or by installing slightly smaller ones side by side, for a textured and unique effect.
